DECADE HUH?

So, I'm chatting with tricksterquinn, and she says "I passed my ten year mark in fandom last summer."

Which of course makes me think back and count... and realize that I've hit that same mark. I'm twenty-two, and I've been in fandom since I was twelve.

Holy. Shit. Holy shit, people. I have spent a decade in fandom.

where do you draw the line of being in fandom? I say my first fandom was when I was 6 or 7, and I base that on the fact that I was writing tons of Red Dwarf Mary Sue fic in my head (and only in my head because at this point I lacked the ability to even spell).

I did the same (though not for Red Dwarf... that I didn't discover until my teens), but I consider, as my starting point for fandom, the time when I discovered fanfiction and online fandom, and started getting involved. Not very involved, but involved. :)
