X-posted to my own journal and just about every icon comm I'm a member of.

It's occured to me that while a lot of people put up their icons on their sites, and of couse pretty much always on their LJ, I've never seen an icon archive.

I'm posting to see if there would be any interest in such a thing. I'm picturing it along the lines of a fanfiction archive: icons sorted by creator, subject, theme, actor, whatever. Cross-referenced, if I can manage it (think lj tags).

Would anybody be interested in having their icons up at such an archive? I like the idea, but there's not really a point in doing it unless it's wanted. :) Or if it already exists! If there is one (or more) already, please do tell me. :)

I, personally, wouldn't be interested in having them up at such a thing - I make my icons for person use (either myself or for people they are specifically gifted to), and hate having other people steal them, and am not really okay with people using them (other than friends) even if they DO ask permission.

But I realize I'm not really who you're targetting this to.

I think it would be a very good idea, but the only thing I can think of that might cause you problems is some people get very funny about sharing their work. I wouldn't have a problem personally, but then my icons are no great shakes to start with. *lol*

But yeah, consider this a thumbs up. :)

That did occur to me. I'm thinking of it, though, in terms of a fanfic archive: either (a) I (or whoever else was a "mod" type, if it ever got big enough) would ask permission before archiving the icons, or preferably (b) only people who asked for their icons to be archived on the site would be. Something in the way of fanfiction.net, but with less suck. Like, ff.net with a pinch of Henneth Annun.
