I want to go here after I leave Butte. Colorado's so pretty.

If you visit CC, let me know if you want me to show you around! I am theoretically a prospie host.
My impression is that all private libarts colleges have comparable tuition. The differences lie more in available financial aid/scholarships.

I did like what I read about it. My parents both said "What's wrong with California?" when I showed them the site, but I'm thinking it looks good...I really like the block learning thing, as so far I haven't dealt terribly well with having more than even two classes at a time.

YAY! After "Oooh, Colorado!" and "Oooh, neat learning plan!" came "Oooh, if I go there I can stalk the neat SCA chick from LJ!"
*grins*

Exactly. For a lot of people, the block plan is really, really nice. I, for one, love it. I nearly went mad juggling five classes last year, and I think the only reason I survived seven at a time in high school was my mum being fantabulous. The block plan is just so...sane. It's sane enough that I enjoy taking adjuncts (mini, spread-out classes -- like Arabic), because they give me continuity and it was nice to have Arabic there when physics was b0rking my brain regularly.
I'm also really impressed with the faculty here so far, although I've only really had contact with the physics and geo departments. What area(s) are you interested in? I could try to find out specifics if you want. (*cough*ImightpossiblybetryingtoconvinceeveryoneIknowtocomeheremaybe.*cough*)

But I am an utter n00b in the SCA!

Ummm....everything.
Mostly history, literature, arts, that sort of thing, with a slight tendancy to go "ooh!" over weather and geography and geology and that sort of thing. Ooh, and languages. I am the great Language Girl! please ignore the fact that I'm still monolingual.
Science and math scare me, though.
*cough*ImightpossiblybetryingtoconvinceeveryoneIknowtocomeheremaybe.*cough*)
That would be ubercool. :)
But I am an utter n00b in the SCA!
And I've spent my entire life in it, and yet don't know the first thing about it. *stoopid, hee*
Anyway, you're *still* cool, and I still want to stalk you. And maybe send you chocolates and things.
It's possible I fangirl on people too easily...

I don't know much about the history department here, but I'll check around; the geology department is really good. Languages I'll know more about next month, after exposure to the Russian department, but a lot of students here study abroad -- the block plan makes it considerably simpler logistically (for example, intermediate and advanced Russian can both be taken in St. Petersburg as blocks 7 & 8, which is much cheaper than a semester abroad, and doesn't b0rk up the rest of one's schedule as much. Me being a suicidal twit, I'm going to try to spend the first semester of my junior year in Mongolia, and the last two blocks of it in Russia). The Arabic and Hebrew adjuncts through the religion department are also nice ways to get mini-intros to languages into a tight schedule (and I heart the Arabic teacher).
I have heard rather so-so things about the math department here, aside from the stats profs, but the natural sciences/math requirement can be fulfilled without any math -- you could take, say, psych and one or two science for poets classes (and there are a lot of really nifty sfp classes here).

Aw.

*g* Me, too.

Thankyou, oh very very nice one. ^.^

I have heard, though, that CC can be unpleasant about credit transfer -- it helps if your college is on a semester (rather than trimester or quarter system); it also helps if you have an A.A., and if your classes are at least four credits (arbitrarily, 4 credits --> 1 block. I am REALLY BITTER about this). It also depends a lot on what field you go into -- the geo department is really strict about core geo courses being taken at CC, but I don't think most of the other departments are.
Most colleges won't take full transfer credit, so you may lose a semester to a year where-ever you go.
But I shall do more research. :)
(There is, however, less financial aid for transfer students.)

I don't really mind so much about losing credits, and I'm planning on a Liberal Arts A.A. before going to a 4-year, I'm mostly just curious about how much hassle it'll be to transfer. I looked on the site, but I couldn't find a whole lot of info there...it seemed to be more directed towards people transfering from other 4-years.
*dances around happily* Thank you EVER so much!

If you're not too worried about the credit issue, transferring shouldn't be much of a problem. I believe if you've an AA, you use the regular transfer app -- because I didn't, and was applying as a freshman, I combined the freshman and transfer apps. It was a bit complicated, largely due to the whole lack of a high school diploma/yes, that really IS my complete high school transcript/no, my senior year transcript will never, ever appear thing, but I got in. They notified me early, actually, for reasons I'm not entirely sure of. Lack of high school graduation shouldn't be an issue with an AA, though, so your situation is doubtless simpler than mine.
Er. My AIM SN is JediMiisa; conversations like these might be better conducted in realtime (after I finish the Final of Doom, that is).

I know. You're on my buddylist. I've just been to shy to talk to you. :p

Hmm. Yes. Good idea.

Until recently, though, I did have everyone not on my buddylist blocked, and will probably go back to that soon. But I think I have you on now.
