I have a hug theory about the Huns in Disney's Mulan being Xiongnu, because they call their leader Shan-Yu, and shan-yu was the term for a Xiongnu leader. Bizarrely, the source I found that in was really obscure, so I'm sort of puzzled that Disney managed to pick that term to misuse as a proper name. (Yes, I do also have issues with Mulan's horse being named Khan. It's too much like being a Brit and naming your horse Führer during WWII. Or ever, really.)
